First school day for our new Nursery pupils
On 10 August 2017, we welcomed our new English and Danish Nursery classes. The first day of school is a special day for children and their parents, so all stops were out to ensure they had a happy and memorable day!
In Denmark, it is customary that the older children greet the new pupils with flags as they enter the school, and the European School Copenhagen was no exception. Following this festive reception, Principal Anette Holst and Head of Primary Hanne Schmidt said a few words of welcome and the children in 3.DK performed a song. There were also activities including clapping, jumping and singing to get the new pupils and their parents participating.
The programme continued in the classrooms, where the children were invited to meet their teachers and class mates. On every desk in the classroom there was an apple and a name card, another Danish tradition to welcome pupils on their first day of school.
We are looking forward to a fun and rewarding school year 2017/18 and welcome our new pupils and families to the school.
