Theme week – African animals
The European School Copenhagen organises two theme weeks a year to encourage collaboration, sharing and learning across the classes, and to give the children an opportunity to explore a subject area in more detail.
The theme of the theme week in November 2016 was ‘African Animals‘, many of which are on the endangered animals list. The pupils visited Copenhagen Zoo before visiting hours, giving them a unique chance to see the animals in a more ‘natural’ setting and learn from the zoo keepers.
During the theme week, the children worked together in mixed groups, using a variety of materials to make masks andanimals, learning African dances, and much more.
All the children and staff had an educational and immensely fun week.
